Employer-Based Wellness Programs
Here are recent stats from a 2022 PwC Financial Wellness study that shouldn't come as a suprise to you as an employer:
- Financially-stressed employees are twice as likely to look elsewhere for work and are attracted to companies that care more about their financial well-being
- 76% of stressed employees say financial worries have had a negative impact on their productivity
- 55% of stressed employees who are distracted by their finances at work spend 3 hours each week at work dealing with their finances
- Among financially-stressed employees, 49% say money worries had a severe or major impact on their mental health, leading to lower engagement, higher turnover and lower attendance
Now consider these financial wellness statistics about Americans today:
- 48% of Americans with annual incomes over $100k live paycheck to paycheck
- 63% of Americans reported living paycheck to paycheck since the pandemic
- 40% of people cannot afford $400 of emergency expenses
- 42% of Americans believed household expenses caused somewhat high to very high amounts of stress in their daily lives
- 50% of financially-stressed employees are embarrassed to ask for help with their finances
- 7 in 10 employees in Workplace Wellness Survey said they need the employer's help in feeling healthy and financially secure
- 75% of employees felt that employer-provided financial solutions and education were a significant benefit and 60% would be more inclined to stay at a company that offered financial solutions
The message should be loud and clear. Whether it's (ideally) out of care and concern for your employees or in an attempt to run a more profitable and sustainable business, offering financial wellness and education programs for your employees is a Win-Win.
